Carla Bartoli

Co-founder and President

My name is Carla, I am 19 years old, and I am currently pursuing a Dual Bachelor’s degree between Sciences Po and Columbia University. Politics has always been at the heart of my interests, shaping both my academic journey and personal growth.

From a young age, I’ve been actively involved in civic life. One of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had was organizing a fundraising campaign to support Ukraine by financing a humanitarian bus shortly after the war began. That initiative reminded me how even small actions can have a real impact.

Since beginning my studies at Sciences Po, I’ve become particularly passionate about public international law and refugee issues. With a specialization in political science and a regional focus on the Middle East, I strive to better understand the roots of conflicts, not only in that region but across the globe. I’m driven by a strong sense of curiosity and a desire to explore how institutions, laws, and diplomacy shape our interconnected world.

As the President of RING, I aim to share this passion with others. RING is an international student-led association committed to fostering dialogue around politics and international relations. My goal is not only to encourage critical thinking and meaningful conversations among young people, but also to inspire a deeper commitment to understanding the complexities of the world we live in.

Ines Billeaud

General Director

My name is Ines Billeaud, I am an 18 year old French American student currently pursuing a Double Bachelor’s Degree in Global Development and Arabic at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. I am fluent in English, French and Spanish, and currently learning Arabic.

From a young age, I have been deeply engaged with politics, shaped by the belief that actions carry consequences and that citizens share a responsibility to hold their leaders accountable. In 2023, I joined Ring Beyond Borders to help promote awareness of global
affairs through fact-based analysis and youth-driven dialogue across international communities.

Since beginning my research on the Palestinian cause in 2021, my interests have increasingly focused on international law, human rights, and humanitarian action. With a
specialization in political science and a regional interest in the Middle East, I strive to understand the historical and structural roots of conflict – not only within a region but across the globe. I am motivated by a deep curiosity about how institutions and legal frameworks
construct our interconnected world.

As General Director of Ring Beyond Borders, I aim to foster this same curiosity in others. By coordinating an international, student-led platform committed to constructive dialogue on global politics and international relations, my goal is to strengthen youth engagement and
support nuanced analysis that helps young people better understand, and critically engage with, the complexities of the world we live in.

Roberta Urso

My name is Roberta, and I am 20 years old. Currently, I am first year student of Law at LUMSA University in Palermo. Since i was a child, I have been visiting every year the island of Lampedusa. Witnessing the migratory phenomenon up close has ignited my passion for law and human rights.

In addition to my academic background I have been practicing dance since I was a child. This experience has helped me understand the importance of discipline. Moreover, it has enlightened me on how art and beauty can serve as a means of communication that transcends cultures and peoples. I strongly believe in seizing the beauty around us and using it as a tool for positive change.

Marta Sciumè

Co-founder and Vice President

My name is Marta, I am 19 years old and I am a first year student of Medicine at the Universtity of Palermo. I have a strong passion for languages. That’s why, at the age of 17, I lived in Ireland for a year, deepening my knowledge of English and Spanish through interactions with the people I met. Due to a brief period I spent in the hospital due to a past issue, my passion for medicine was born. This is why I aspire to pursue studies in this field to help others. Another of my great passions is politics. I attended Prime Minister, a school of politics for young women, which helped me share my ideas with other young girls like me and deepen my knowledge in this area. Since childhood, I’ve been a volleyball player, a sport that taught me the importance of teamwork. I am convinced that we should always enjoy and appreciate what we have and strive to give our best to improve our lives and the lives of others.

To me, RING is a space where cultures, ideas, and perspectives come together. It allows us to share knowledge, encourage dialogue, and work on solutions to today’s global challenges.

In turn those people will understand elections and vote not for people, but policies. Maddalena Mizzoni

Author

First year Student at SciencesPo Paris
Even though I have a clear vision of my future (I’m fascinated by international diplomacy, especially in safeguarding artistic heritage), when I daydream about what lies ahead, it’s not just about the job I’ll have. It’s more about the person I’ll become and the impact I want to make on the world. I dream of using the lessons life teaches me to contribute positively, championing democracy, expanding access to education, shattering the glass ceiling, and taking on the challenge of climate change. Most importantly, I want to be a spirited, kind, and influential young woman shaping the global stage. I believe and hope that Ring will guide me towards becoming the best version of myself I aspire to be.

It’s not just about raising awareness; it’s about cultivating a generation that’s empowered to influence policy and shape the global narrative.
