Founders
Carla Bartoli, 18
Co-founder and President
Hello, my name is Carla. I am an 18-year-old student in the second year of the International Baccalaureate in Palermo. I have a strong passion for politics, which has led me to engage in various experiences and meet with people from the entire world. One of my best memories was when I organized a fundraising campaign to finance a bus “for Ukraine” after the war broke out. When I was fifteen I moved to France for one year to do an experience abroad. Accordingly, I speak fluent English and French. Among the events I participated in, there are Political schools like the “Prime Minister” School of Politics for Young Women and the “School of Policies”. I also enjoy debating, prompting my involvement in activities like Debate Bootcamp and Model United Nations simulations. Beyond the political sphere, I am deeply committed to civic engagement, participating in various volunteer initiatives. My driving force stems from the belief that everything we want is on the other side of fear.
Marta Sciumè, 18
Co-founder and Vice President
Hello, I’m Marta, and I’m eighteen years old. Currently, I am a student in the final year at Empedocle Classical High School. I have a strong passion for languages. That’s why, at the age of 17, I lived in Ireland for a year, deepening my knowledge of English and Spanish through interactions with the people I met. Due to a brief period I spent in the hospital due to a past issue, my passion for medicine was born. This is why I aspire to pursue studies in this field to help others. Another of my great passions is politics. I attended Prime Minister, a school of politics for young women, which helped me share my ideas with other young girls like me and deepen my knowledge in this area. Since childhood, I’ve been a volleyball player, a sport that taught me the importance of teamwork. I am convinced that we should always enjoy and appreciate what we have and strive to give our best to improve our lives and the lives of others.
Roberta Urso, 18
Co-founder and Secretary
Hello, I’m Roberta, and I’m 18 years old. Currently, I am a student in the final year of a classical high school. Since childhood, I have been visiting the island of Lampedusa. Witnessing the migratory phenomenon up close has ignited my passion for law and human rights. This is why I aspire to study jurisprudence. Additionally, I have been practicing dance since I was a child. This experience has helped me understand the importance of discipline. Moreover, it has enlightened me on how art and beauty can serve as a means of communication that transcends cultures and peoples. I strongly believe in seizing the beauty around us and using it as a tool for positive change.
We are three Sicilian friends, united by a profound connection to the phenomenon of immigration. Our roots are in Favara, a small town close to Agrigento, in southern Sicily. Despite pursuing different educational paths, we have been fortunate to live diverse experiences, ranging from direct contact with the ports of Lampedusa to extended periods abroad. These moments have shaped our interest in human rights.
Since the age of eighteen, when we became active Italian and European citizens in every respect, we have gained increasing awareness. We feel responsible for understanding and addressing global conflicts and immigration. We believe in the interdependence of global policies, the consequences of our choices, and the potential impact of small actions on large communities.
Our desire to act and share this impulse with other young people like us, eager to contribute to a more aware and engaged community, gave rise to the idea of founding RING.

Even though I have a clear vision of my future (I’m fascinated by international diplomacy, especially in safeguarding artistic heritage), when I daydream about what lies ahead, it’s not just about the job I’ll have. It’s more about the person I’ll become and the impact I want to make on the world. I dream of using the lessons life teaches me to contribute positively, championing democracy, expanding access to education, shattering the glass ceiling, and taking on the challenge of climate change.
Most importantly, I want to be a spirited, kind, and influential young woman shaping the global stage. I believe and hope that Ring will guide me towards becoming the best version of myself I aspire to be.

Ines Billeaud,17
Correspondent for Puerto Rico
Currently enrolled at Saint John’s School, Puerto Rico
Throughout my educational journey, I have been drawn to humanitarian endeavors and political studies, with a keen interest in applying such skills to foster community-centric ideologies. Growing up in the vibrant and multicultural city of New York, with French roots from both my parents, I have been immersed in a diverse and international environment. This exposure was further enriched when my family relocated to California, and afterwards to San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 2018. Instilled with a deep appreciation for the importance of global perspectives and effective communication, especially under the scope of Ring, my goal is to shed light on local issues concerning Puerto Rico’s political institutions and utilizing it as a perspective on common apprehensions regarding global conflicts. Conflicts of today are all rooted from a series of historical context, all of which constructs each individual’s opinion and involvement on international issues. My intention would therefore be to unify local apprehensions of Puerto Ricans / Americans to better understand international responses and national responsibilities.
